MISD Foundation for Excellence
President's Letter

Welcome to the new Foundation for Excellence website!  Responding to suggestions from some of our valued contributors, the Board of Trustees hopes through this medium to better fulfill our primary purpose:  to provide and administer opportunities for family and friends to support the children of the Murray Independent School District through financial contributions.

Our community is justifiably proud of the success of the district over many years.  Credit for that record of accomplishments must be shared among many talented and hard-working faculty, staff, and students.  Also very important has been the leadership of officials who have been careful stewards of public funds.  However, we know there are limits to what efficiency can accomplish.  The highest level of excellence in our schools often depends upon finding additional, private financial resources.  Our community has been generous in providing that support, but the need continues.  We hope our supporters will explore the website, find a scholarship, grant, or other program they would like to support, and then take advantage of the new, convenient way to make a tax deductible contribution.

We also hope that friends and family will become regular visitors to the website.  Another of our goals is to better communicate with our schools' extended family, and we plan to help share information about activities of the foundation, the schools, and our alumni.  The home page will provide regular updates in the Current Focus section, and we hope that many of our alumni will send pictures and information so they can be included in the Alumni Update section.

We all need to thank my predecessor as president, Wayne Bell, who has been responsible for helping the Foundation better organize and focus its efforts, including the work which has led to this website.  Wayne remains active, and I trust he will keep me on task in this new job.    We appreciate your interest and look forward to your helpful suggestions.

Sincerely,

Ron Cella, President
