MISD Foundation for Excellence
President's Letter

As a father who has watched firsthand the effects of the Murray Independent School District develop two successful young men from kindergarteners, I can echo the pride in the school system that is reflected elsewhere on the website.

The purpose of the foundation is to assist a good school system become a great school system. The Board of Trustees takes seriously the responsibility to achieve that goal by being good stewards of funds raised to assist the district. Last year we had a successful triennial fund raiser of $45,000, and that is being utilized for development and enrichment opportunities for teachers, special projects in the classrooms, enhanced extracurricular activities for students, and tuition assistance for those qualified. We also have several endowment accounts that augment opportunities for higher learning of selected individuals. With a district that is constantly being asked to do more with less, the needs to maintain excellence are great. We appreciate those past donors, and encourage others to strongly consider donating to this cause. There are several specific causes outlined under the "endowments" tab, or one can donate to the general fund. If I can answer any questions, feel free to email me on the link at the bottom of that tab.

This past year saw the passing of Dr. Wayne Bell, who was one of the very cornerstone members of this foundation, and he will be sorely missed. It is an understatement that this foundation would not be what it is today without Wayne's dedication and leadership.

I would like to thank my predecessor, Dr. Ron Cella, for his tireless efforts to this foundation, and I am grateful he has stayed on the board and remains active in the day to day activities. As always, we thank you for your interest and support of our efforts, and always welcome suggestions and feedback.
